The following are some ways to shield your hair from the sun.

How Sun Can Damage Your Hair.

When your hair is exposed to the sun for an extended period of time, UVA, also known as long ultraviolet rays, and UAB, commonly known as short ultraviolet rays, can damage the outside layer of the hair called the cuticle. As your cuticle deteriorates, your hair becomes more frizzy and drier.Frizzy hair can also lead to hair breakage and hair loss.Along with causing hair loss, UV rays can also have an impact on melanin, the pigment colour in our hair that is blamed for premature greying.

Avoid chemical treatment:

As heat can affect the cuticle of your hair, chemical products can make it worse. Minimize chemical treatment and heat treatment like keratin, straightening, curling, blow dry, etc. Try to opt naturally for glowing hair.

Use sun protection for hair:

There are a lot of products available to protect your hair and scalp from sun exposure. These come in the form of powders, creams, lotions, gels, and sprays. Use a good quality stay-on product with an SPF of 30+.

Try Co-Washing:

Do not use shampoo excessively during summer, try cleansing your hair with conditioner instead. This method can also be called co-washing your hair.

Include Antioxidants In your Diet:

UVA and UVB radiation from the sun cause a lot of oxidative stress. Hence you should make sure that your diet contains a lot of antioxidants like apple, dark chocolate, liver, sweet potatoes  to naturalize the free radicals.
